Simplifying your life or your week means something different for everyone. I have said this time and time again and will continue to say this as we all have a different definition of simplifying our lives.
The concept of simplifying our lives is to actually have less. Have less to do, to manage and to even think about. If you can understand this then you are one step closer to starting to simplifying your life.
Having this in mind, I would like to talk about a few things that you can do to simplify your week. I do these for myself and my family and they have really helped me to cut back and simplify as much as I can for now at least. Of course, there is always room for improvement but for now we are taking baby steps.
Before we get into the tips, how many of you sort of go into panic mode on Sunday? Or maybe you’re the person who says, oh no its Monday tomorrow. Whatever you say or feel like I hope you can use these tips to change that feeling and get a handle on your week with a more simplified approach.
MAKE A PLAN
First things first you need to make a plan for the week before the week even starts. Now this can be in a planner, an app or even your calendar on your phone. I love to use my calendar on my phone as I have synced it to my husband’s calendar so we both know what is going on for the week and month in general.
You don’t need to get all fancy or spend ours doing your plan just jot down what you need to do each day and at what times they need to be done. They key here is to not put too much when you don’t have the time. I also make sure I have one afternoon where I don’t have anything to do so I can just relax or catch up on some decluttering or organising.
When adding your appointments or events in your planner, also schedule your meals and block the time to cook and clean up afterwards. Add your free time so you don’t use that time for other things and also add your errands and time for calls or emails. You need to block the time for everything you need to get done BUT make sure to block off time for rest and something fun for you.

MORNING ROUTINE
Make sure you have a morning routine in place so that you set yourself up for success for the day. A simple morning routine can make or break your day and week. This routine will allow you to start your day without stress and overwhelm and you will breeze into the day. I talk about how to establish a morning routine here so go on over and check it out if you haven’t got a morning routine in place.
RE-EVALUATE
Now that you have put a morning routine in place and made your plan for the week I want you to go back to your weekly plan and re-evaluate what you have noted down. Check if there is something that can be done on a different day. Example put your errands in such a way that you are not wasting time going round in circles or better yet have a day only for errands. Then check to see what you can eliminate from the plan. Also confirm that you have time for yourself and your family.
Once you have re-evaluated your plan, you are now ready for the week! Time to just relax knowing that you are ready for the week.
ONE MORE THING
There is one more thing I personally like to do on Sunday afternoon and that is to prepare my work clothes for the week. I have a hanger next to my dresser and I hang there 5 tops and my trousers for work for the week. This way I eliminate my stress of what to wear but also limit my choices of clothes to wear.
I hope you will try these 3 tips on how to simplify your week and please let me know how you go with them.
